Charles S. Robb
Senator Robb earned a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. A Marine Corps veteran who finished first in his class at Quantico, Robb became a White House honor guard. Robb went on to serve two tours of duty in Vietnam, where he led a rifle company in combat, and was awarded the Bronze Star. After the war he attended the University of Virginia Law School earning a J.D. in 1973, and following a federal judicial clerkship he entered private practice.
Charles S. Robb served as Lieutenant Governor of Virginia from 1978 to 1982, as Virginia's 64th Governor from 1982 to 1986, and as a United States Senator from 1989 to 2001.
During his tenure in the Senate, Robb became the only member of Congress ever to serve simultaneously on all three national security committees (Intelligence, Armed Services, and Foreign Relations). He also served on the Finance, Commerce, and Budget Committees, as well as the Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs.
Since leaving the Senate in 2001, Robb has continued to work on issues of national security. He currently serves on The President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board and The Secretary of State's Arm Control and Nonproliferation Advisory Board. He is a Distinguished Professor of Law and Public Policy at George Mason University School of Law.
