H. Edward "Chip" Mann
H. Edward Mann, who currently serves as Executive Director of the Jamestown 400th Commemoration Commission, was born in Petersburg, Virginia. He double-majored in Philosophy and Government and has a BA from the College of William and Mary.
During 30 years of public service, Mann has held a variety of governmental and political positions. His most expansive national role involved building support for education reform when he was appointed by President George H. Bush as Special Assistant and Director for Special Events for Secretary of Education Lamar Alexander.
A veteran of 31 political campaigns, he’s led not-for-profit entities, negotiated with citizens and leaders in dozens of countries, and appeared on TV news shows and talk radio. As an independent public affairs consultant, he developed and implemented numerous national grassroots advocacy strategies for a wide variety of clients.
An avid amateur historian, Mann’s special interest revolves around Virginia in the 17th through the19th centuries.
