Why do I need to register my bike?
First, it is mandatory by College Policy, but second if your bike is "missing" the Police Department will have all the necessary information to try to find it, or when found we can return it to the correct owner.
Where do I register it?
The Police Department will have locations throughout campus to help you fill out the registration form and get your decal on the first day of Freshman move-in. Any other time, you can come to the Police Department and fill out the registration form and get your decal. Remember, the Police Department is open 24 hrs/day, every day of the year.
What am I going to need to fill out the registration form?
In order to complete the registration form, you will need your physical address (not C.S. Unit), your local and home phone numbers, the make, model, and serial number of your bike, and an estimate of its value.
What do I need to know about my bike's serial number?
A serial number is a number engraved on the bicycle much like your social security number. The graphic above indicates where this number will most likely be found. It is imperative that a serial number be provided in order for the bike to be registered. It is possible that your bike will not have a serial number, if this is the case, bring your bike to the Police Department and we will allow you to use an engraving machine and you may apply your own number.
Where do I put the decal?
Please place the decal on the frame of the bike below the seat. See the above graphic.
How long is the registration valid?
The registration remains valid for 6 years. If you remain at William & Mary for longer than 6 years, you will need to reregister your bike.
