Undergraduate Research in Physics
Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Program
This program is funded by the NSF and will be offered in the Summer of 2007. The program provides undergraduates genuine involvement in actual research, and applications are invited from W&M and non-W&M students alike. Physics Related Research projects are available in the Physics and the Applied Science departments. We have collaborations at the nearby laboratories: Thomas Jefferson Lab, and NASA Langley Research Center.Seniors are required to do a research project with a faculty member, to write the results in article form and to give a presentation on their work. Qualified seniors may choose to do a research project leading to a degree with Honors in Physics.
Charles Center Student Research Grants (formerly Minor Research Grants)
The Charles Center is now administering the Student Research Grants
program. The purpose of these grants is to assist students with expenses directly related to the conduct of research. Students may apply for up to
$300 to cover the research costs such as travel to libraries, archives,
laboratories, etc., in support of research, long distance telephone calls,
photocopies, postage, payments to human subjects, and payments for animal
subjects. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis from currently
enrolled students. Applications from students conducting Honors research
are especially encouraged. For an application and more information, click on the Student Research
Grants link on the
Charles Center website.
