Transportation Services

Getting around the William & Mary campus and the greater Williamsburg area as a new student can be an interesting experience. Freshmen and sophomores who live on campus may not have a vehicle on campus and Upperclassmen may not want move their cars and fight the traffic. Luckily, Williamsburg Area Transport (WAT) provides bus services for William & Mary and the surrounding area.

The campus bus system is designated the Green Line, with two buses dedicated to providing daily transportation throughout campus for students, faculty and staff.

There is no cost to ride any of the bus lines serviced by WAT. Simply show your William & Mary ID card and you may ride the buses year-round for free.

Why use the bus?

•Provides dependable and timely transportation for students without vehicles and those with limited mobility

•Provides access from Law School, Graduate Housing, School of Education, Hospital Parking Lot  to main campus
•Provides a connection with other lines in the greater Williamsburg area through 2 buses on a circuit loop, every 15 minutes

Special Trip Requests

WAT supports Special trips and contract shuttle needs within the local area.  The cost is  $42 per hour with a four hour minimum for all trips.

Transportation Advisory

The W&M Green & Gold Line will cease to run for the semester on Wednesday May 7 at 6:00 PM. On campus bus service is not available during the summer months. The Green Line will resume operation in the Fall semester.
