Biography

Sarah (Irwin) Menefee graduated from the College of William & Mary with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and went on to complete a Post Baccalaureate Intramural Research Training Award Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. She then received her Master of Public Health (MPH) from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health where she completed a certificate in Health Education and focused her program on topics related to adolescent health. Sarah is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), and she returned to William and Mary in the summer of 2006 as the College's full-time Health Educator.

Sarah has been recognized on campus as an expert in the field and has recently been appointed as an Adjunct Instructor in the department of Interdisciplinary Studies teaching an introduction to public health course for undergraduate students. During her tenure at William and Mary, Sarah has led the implementation of Alcohol Edu, an online prevention and education program.  She has developed and coordinated a peer led program presented to all first year students and spearheaded the office's assessment initiative (NCHA) including data analysis.  Sarah currently chairs The Division of Student Afffairs' Mental Health Task Force, providing guidance and leadership in the coordination of colleagues from across the division.    Additional current responsibilities include advising the Health Outreach Peer Educators, organizing awareness weeks, and implementing programs such as Mental Health Screening Day. Sarah was a member of the health educator team that developed the content for this site.
