Students insured under the Student Insurance Plan have access to a comprehensive and quality prescription plan. Your pharmacy benefit provides coverage for the majority of prescription medications approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Our goal is to support you and your doctor by providing access to a wide variety of medications and helping to make the medications you need more affordable. We offer programs and tools to help you make informed decisions, save money and get the most out of your pharmacy benefit.
When selecting a medication, you and your doctor should consult the United Healthcare Prescription Drug List (PDL). A PDL is a list of commonly prescribed medications placed into tiers. The PDL includes most brand and generic prescription medications approved by the FDA. Medications are placed on different tiers based on their overall value, with Tier 1 being the most affordable tier option. The PDL is reviewed periodically and may change.
To determine if a medication is covered by your pharmacy benefit, its tier level and any available lower cost alternatives, you can login to MyAccount. To better understand your Prescription Drug Plan coverage, review the UnitedHealthcare StudentResources Pharmacy Benefit Program brochure.
