Lifeguards

  • The lifeguard is responsible for the safety of all swimmers and for the enforcement of all pool rules and regulations.
  • All lifeguards will be required to participate in review sessions throughout the year, as well as keep CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard Certifications valid.
Specific Duties:
  1. Prevent accidents through the enforcement of policies, rules, regulations and ordinances governing the conduct of persons using the swimming pool.
  2. Perform a safe rescue for a swimmer in trouble and administer the necessary First Aid.
  3. Maintain the pool deck and keep gutters clean.
  4. Maintain order in the pool, and as far as possible, foresee possible trouble and take steps to prevent it.
  5. Report definite or potential physical hazards and unsafe conditions to the Asst. Director.
  6. Test the water at the beginning of each shift and record on the proper form.
  7. Open and close the pool at the scheduled times.
  8. At the end of the shift, clear the pool of swimmers and pick up around the deck area. Put buoys, kickboards, and inner tubes in their proper places and throw trash away. Lock all doors.
  9. Perform other duties as requested.
