CSD Student Employment

The Center for Student Diversity employs several undergraduate students each year as part of our team.  For the 2016-2017 academic school year, we have three positions open. Each position offers 8 to 10 hours of employment per week during the academic semester when classes are in session.

Overview of Positions

Communications Assistant

Main Function:  Assist in promotion of the CSD, its programs and events
Position Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with scheduling and posting of promotional items and announcements to appropriate media (such as websites, online calendars, email listservs, social media)
  • Assist in design and development of promotional materials such as simple digital graphics, fliers, posters, bulletin boards
  • Assist with website development and maintenance
  • Research information, articles, social media for awareness raising materials

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Strong written communication skills and organizational skills
  • Basic experience in graphic design, photo and graphic manipulation, and with appropriate software applications
  • Understanding of marketing practices
  • Strong creative skills and attention to detail
Administrative Assistant

Main Function: Assist in office administration
Position Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with information management and document maintenance
  • Assist with research and data processing
  • Assist with supply management and storage
  • Coordinate archival functions

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Professional decorum for working in office environment
Outreach Assistant

Main Function:  Assist in developing relationships with campus partners
Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Conduct outreach efforts through email communication, individual meetings, and meeting and event attendance
  • Assist in promotion of the CSD, its programs, events, and resources
  • Research and design educational and awareness raising materials
  • Serve as a resource and liaison between CSD and campus partners

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiasm for networking and building relationships
  • Comfortable with public speaking and overall good communication skills
  • Interest/experience in photography
