Tent Policy

A tent permit is required by the Commonwealth of Virginia for any tent that is larger than 30x30 or in excess of 900 square feet. There is an approximately $50 state processing fee that will be billed by Capital Outlay.

An application for a permit must be submitted and approved prior to the erection and use of a tent. You may obtain the application at the Scheduling Office, Campus Center Room 209, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. The application then needs to be taken to and filled out by the tent company that is providing the service. The organization/department that is requesting the permit, (not the tent company), must return the application to the Scheduling Office at least 30 days prior to the event. Once the permit is issued the Scheduling Office will contact you and send a copy.

Please note that no open flame items, space heaters, or food/cooking/heating devices are permitted under and within twenty feet of any tent.
