Nearest Safe Shelter in the Event of Lightning
Eastern State Cross Country Running Course: Team vehicles provide the only means of safe shelter.
Safe shelter is defined as:
- Any building normally occupied or frequently used by people that has plumbing and/or wiring to ground the structure.
- In the absence of a building as described above, any vehicle with a hard metal roof (car, van, bus, etc.) can provide a degree of safety.
Services provided at each meet:
- Water, injury ice and emergency supplies at the meet.
- Access to the Athletic Training Facility in Kaplan Arena (room 104). The Athletic Training Facility is approximately 3 miles from the course.
- Modality access must be requested 48 hours prior to the meet.
- Certified athletic trainer at the meet.
- Physician will be on-call.
