Online Training Modules

All PIs, staff, and students involved in research are strongly encouraged to take the Responsible Conduct of Research Modules to ensure the College's continued compliance with the PHS Office of Research Integrity.  All staff, students, and new PIs involved in animal or human subjects research must take the appropriate training modules before beginning research.

Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR), Animal Subjects and Human Subjects Training Programs

The Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) provides compliance committee members (IACUC, PHSC, and IBC), principal investigators, students, and staff with an on-line instruction program that documents compliance with the PHS policy on Instruction in the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR). The program documents compliance with federal regulations on training in the humane care and use of laboratory animals in research. Completion of the Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and the Occupational Health and Safety modules is required of all NEW IACUC members, as well as NEW faculty, students, and staff involved in animal research. Human Subject Assurance training and  is available to PHSC members and individuals involved in human subject research.

 

In addition to the CITI training modules offered, the VIMS website has an IACUC Training For Working With Fishes module available.   This fish training module is required for all personnnel whose work may involve activities, whether funded or unfunded,  when working with fish.
