Jeffress Memorial Trust

Summary

Early career research funding for faculty in the natural sciences proposals require postmark by September 1, 2012.

Full Description

The purpose of the Jeffress Memorial Trust is to support basic research in chemical, medical, or other scientific fields through grants to educational and research institutions in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  Grants are given to assist scientists to conduct investigations in the natural sciences, generally considered to include chemistry, physics and biology (with the exception of field studies, classification, and other largely observational studies), studies in the basic medial sciences such as biochemistry, microbiology, and others.

W&M faculty have been extremely successful at obtaining these awards and we strongly encourage you to apply if eligible.

The principle evaluation criteria will be the scientific significance of the proposed work and the competence of the investigator.  The Trust is particularly interested in supporting fundamental research by scientists early in their careers and new areas of research or more speculative projects by established investigators.

CHANGE IN INTERNAL APPLICATION PROCESS:

ALL applicants must provide the Office of Sponsored Programs their assembled, final application packages in order to obtain a signature of institutional endorsement.  The final packages are due to the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) by 4:00 pm on August 29, 2012.  All W&M faculty applications will be sent to the Trust by the OSP directly.
