McGlothlin Leadership Forum brings business and law leaders to W&M
Second Annual McGlothlin Leadership Forum The former CEOs of Deutsche Bank Americas and U.S. Steel join renowned trial attorney Robert Clifford to be the 2012 Forum Fellows. October 2-4 at William & Mary's Mason School of Business.
2012 Fellows to discuss post-election economic, legal, and political systems solutions
The Mason School of Business at the College of William & Mary and William & Mary Law School will host the second annual McGlothlin Leadership Forum October 2-4, 2012.
Named in honor of James McGlothlin, Chairman and CEO of The United Company, the Forum will bring three distinguished leaders in business and law to the campus. Chosen annually, the Fellows exemplify the pinnacle of leadership, vision, integrity, and revolutionary thinking.
The Forum will feature a series of discussions between and among the McGlothlin Leadership Forum Fellows--pre-eminent leaders in their fields--and students and faculty of the business and law schools, culminating in a plenary session of open exchange, active debate, and analysis of the challenges the U.S. will face after the presidential election.
The McGlothlin Forum Fellows for 2012 are:
- Robert Clifford, Principal Partner, Clifford Law Offices
- Seth Waugh, former CEO, Deutsche Bank Americas
- Thomas Usher, former President and CEO, U.S. Steel; former Chairman of Marathon Oil
Conceived and designed by McGlothlin, a 1962 graduate of the College, a 1964 graduate of the law school, and honored by the College in 2000 with a Doctor of Laws honorary degree, the Forum intends to:
To prepare students to make a difference in the world by expanding their understanding of the vital roles of leadership and accountability in global political, legal, and economic systems.
"The Leadership Forum will bring William & Mary students in touch with the highest caliber leaders in business and law in our nation. This highly personal program is intended to inspire our students to the highest level of achievement possible," said McGlothlin.
Over the three days, the Forum Fellows will meet with small groups of faculty and students in the business and law schools. Finishing out day two, will be the Forum Fellows discussion, the hallmark of the Forum. The topic for the discussion will be:
What Must Be Done Post-Election to Right America’s Economic, Legal, and Political Systems?
The October 3 Forum Fellows discussion will be held in the Brinkley Commons Room of Alan B. Miller Hall on the William & Mary campus. It will begin at 2 p.m. EST and is open to the public.
It will also be streamed live at http://mason.wm.edu/mcglothlin_forum/stream. New this year will be a simultaneous web broadcast on the WHRO website.
The Forum is an annual event sponsored by McGlothlin and cohosted by the business and law schools. WHRO joins the schools of business and law this year as media partner.
