Grayson to appear Sunday on NBC Nightly News

George Grayson Class of 1938 Professor of Government and author of Mexico: Narco Violence and a Failed State? (2009) will be a guest this Sunday on NBC Nightly News. Grayson was interviewed Friday by NBC correspondent Mark Potter for the Nov. 6 broadcast about drug violence in Mexico. NBC Nightly News airs at 6:30 p.m. on Sundays on NBC affiliate stations nationwide.
Grayson specializes in Latin American politics, with a particular interest in Mexico. He has written more than 20 books and monographs on international affairs, made over 200 research trips to Latin America, and lectures regularly at the U.S. Department of State. Grayson is frequently called upon by the media to address issues pertaining to Mexico. In the past year he has been quoted more than 50 times in national outlets – including the New York Times, Washington Post, USAToday, Los Angeles Times, CNN and Rolling Stone Magazine – and was featured in three back-to-back articles in the Wall Street Journal. He also writes a regularly column for "Milenio Semanal," a weekly magazine in Mexico.
In addition to teaching at William & Mary, Grayson is a senior associate at the Center for Strategic & International Studies in Washington, D.C. and an associate scholar of the Foreign Policy Research Institute in Philadelphia.
He has been a member of the Government Department faculty for 38 years. He earned his B.A. at the University of North Carolina (at Chapel Hill), his M.A. and Ph.D. at the Johns Hopkins University, and a J.D. at the Marshall-Wythe School of Law.
