Undergraduate Students

Freshmen

All freshman students are required to live in W&M housing and are therefore guaranteed campus housing. Freshman student status is defined as first-time, full-time college student status for two semesters (i.e. students with no full-time college experience after high school). Freshmen are housed in one of 12 freshmen buildings: Brown, Dinwiddie, Fauquier, Gooch, Green & Gold Village, Hunt, Jefferson, Monroe, Nicholson, Spotswood, Taliaferro, and Yates. All freshman halls are co-ed—meaning that men and women live in the same residence hall but on separate floors or wings of the building.

All freshmen are sent information on how to complete their on-line Freshman Roommate Questionnaire in a mailing that will be sent to them. The instructions will also be posted on the Residence Life website.

Information about residence hall rooms will be mailed to you separately from Residence Life.

Students who have not yet reserved a room on campus and would like to do so, should contact the [[living, Office of Residence Life]].

Upper-class/Transfer Students

On-campus housing for upper-class students is limited and is therefore not guaranteed for all students. Rooms are assigned in the order that the Housing Application is received. If a housing assignment is made, a Housing Contract will be mailed to the student from Residence Life. The signed Housing Contract must be returned with a $200 room reservation deposit (a prepayment for the first semester).
