The Intensive English Program (IEP) is designed for post-secondary students and professionals seeking to improve their English for academic, professional, and personal purposes. The program provides students with 20 hours per week of high-quality English language instruction, focusing on

  • Core language skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing
  • Academic skills: research, critical thinking, study skills, public speaking
  • Cross-cultural communication skills and cultural studies
  • Standardized test preparation
Program Highlights
  • 20 hours* of intensive academic English preparation per week
  • Small classes of 6-8 students on average
  • Experiential learning through excursions
  • Ongoing program of student activities
  • Leveled instruction beginning with Low Intermediate
  • 7-week sessions with entry points mid-fall and mid-spring
  • Special summer programs and courses
  • Reves Center immigration advising

*The program is also available on a part-time basis. This is especially helpful for the spouses and family of our international students and scholars!

  • Students must be 18 years of age at time of enrollment
  • Minimum language level of A2 or TOEFL iBT 32-41 or an IELTS 4.5
  • Leveled instruction: Low Intermediate - Advanced
