This message goes out to all students, family and friends. The Office of Residence Life wants to personally welcome you for the upcoming year. I am the Area Director for One Tribe Place, Richmond Hall and DuPont Hall. You might ask yourself, what is an Area Director? An Area Director is a full-time employee of the College with a Masters degree. Overall, the Area Director is responsible for the day to day activities that occur in this residential area.
There are student staff members in this area who are ready to assist you and provide a multitude of programming opportunities to enhance your residential experience. One of the greatest ways to be involved in your community is to be a part of Hall Council-- the governing body for the residence halls. I encourage you to take an active role in your community.
Please review this web site for detailed information on all the Residence Halls in this area, as well as information specifically geared for first-year students. If you have further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly.
The staff and I would like to welcome you to the Tribe Square/OTP/Yates Area! We are looking forward to a great year.
See you in August!
The College of William & Mary
Dear Future Residents,
On behalf of our Residence Life staff, we would like to welcome you to One Tribe Place! We are very excited to meet all of you in August and are looking forward to the great year ahead. We would like to take this opportunity to share some of the exciting features of our building and what to expect when you arrive in the fall.
One Tribe Place is located along Richmond Road, directly across from Zable Stadium, and offers quick access to many areas both on and just off campus. Every room has its own private bathroom and comes with varying bed sizes depending on occupancy (click to see what is in your room http://www.wm.edu/offices/residencelife/documents/otpbeds1718.pdf). All rooms are fully carpeted and come with individual thermostats that can be set on heat or air conditioning.
There is a spacious lounge and kitchen on every floor, with the first floor kitchen next to the William & Mary Parlor and second, third and fourth floor kitchens located within the lounges. You may have a personal microwave and small refrigerator in your room, but please be sure to see the housing contract for prohibited items.
Laundry facilities are located in the basement (lower level or laundry level) of the building. With twelve washers and the same number of dryers, our laundry facilities are some of the best on campus.
If you want an outdoor space to study or socialize, our courtyard is a beautiful location within the confines of the building. There are umbrellas and tables available to spread out on to study or sit around and hang out with friends.
Our last unique feature regards access to the building and individual rooms. Like other buildings on campus, students must use their student ID to enter. All of OTP is equipped with readers compatible with the newer version of the student ID that come with an internal chip. WM student IDs are required to access the elevators for security purposes. Unlike other residence halls on campus, our room doors still run a hotel card system. This can be both a blessing and a curse. The door to your room locks automatically, so residents must always take their room key whenever leaving the room. Your card can also become demagnetized if left next to a cell phone, so please be careful.
For upperclassmen with an unrestricted campus parking pass, OTP has a basement garage and adjacent parking lot. For students without cars, the Williamsburg Trolley and various WATA bus lines have a convenient stop directly in front of the building.
One Tribe Place falls under the supervision of your Area Director, Rich Schofield, with support from your Head Resident, Alana Canty-Samuel. Please do not hesitate to contact any member of the 2017-2018 Residence Life staff for questions about our area and your return to campus. We are excited to meet you during move-in in August! Welcome to One Tribe Place!
