Greetings from the College of William and Mary!
The Residence Life office would like to welcome all incoming and returning students, families, and friends. I am the Area Director for DuPont Hall, and our newly crated Green & Gold Village, which is comprised of Griffin Hall, Eagle Hall, and Lion Hall. As an Area Director I am responsible for the daily activities that occur in the residential area, in addition to the supervision of 22 student staff members. All Area Directors are full-time employees of the College who have a Masters degree.I am entering my fifth year at William and Mary.
The 22 student staff members include 18Resident Assistants, 1 Head Resident in DuPont Hall and 1 Hall Director in Green & Gold Village. For first-year residents living in the Village, we are ready to aide in your transition to college and are excited about providing a multitude of programming opportunities to enhance your residential experience. For upperlevel residents living in DuPont, welcome back to your new "home on the hill" where we are looking forward to your involvement in the community. For both areas, one of the greatest ways to be involved in your community is to be a part of Hall Council-- the governing body for the residence halls. I encourage you to take an active role in your community by becoming an Executive Board member or a Hall Representative.
Please review this web site for detailed information on all the residence halls in this area, as well as information specifically geared for first-year students. I encourage you take a take a look at the podcasts to view what your building and room may look like before you come to campus. Last but certainly not least, join us on Facebook! Look for area/building/floor groups, as well as, message boards/threads for our area.
If you have further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly.
The DuPont and Village staff welcomes you to the area! We are looking forward to an outstanding year. See you in August!

Dear DuPont Residents,
Welcome to the "Castle on the Hill"! You will be living in the largest upperlevel residence building with 264 residents split into eight single halls on three floors. Featuring suite-style bathrooms, DuPont has air-conditioning, so you can enjoy the coolness on humid Williamsburg days. Other luxuries in DuPont include:
- two lounges (each with a balcony and kitchenette) on each floor
- a large full-size kitchen in the basement
- vending machines in the basement
- two laundry rooms located on the second floor
- a sand volleyball court behind the dorm
Finally, DuPont's "Pit" in the center of the first floor is where you will find a large hearth surrounded by couches, which will be lit during the winter producing a cozy 70s style manion-esque ambiance. With all these amenities right in your building, you might not want to leave! However, DuPont residents enjoy living in a prime location on campus - you are a brief stroll to the largest dining hall on campus (the "Caf"), tennis courts and the Rec Center. Also, make sure to cheer on Tribe athletes in Kaplan Arena inside William & Mary Hall next to the Caf. For serious studying, Swem Library is also a short walk away, or you can enjoy the beauties of nature at Lake Matoaka.
You will have eight RAs in DuPont with interests that include Chemistry, Government & Business, Pre-Law, Neuroscience, International Relations, Anthropology and Classical Studies, and History. Everyone on the DuPont staff is looking forward to meeting you in the fall and welcoming you to your new home.
Through self-determination, we will make DuPont a "home" we all live in! Please check out the self-determination video to learn more about what that means, and get ready to get involved with hall council!

We are the Fearless dozen, set in place to guide you in your college transition. Let’s begin by informing you about the Green & Gold Village that you will inhabit for your first year. This village is comprised of three buildings made up of 12 sections. Griffin Hall will be sections A, B, C, D and E. Eagle Hall will have sections F, G, H, and J. Lastly, Lion Hall will have sections K, L, and M. We, the Residence Life staff, are here to create the first ‘freshmen village” community. We are a group of individuals involved in a wide range of academics, Greek life, athletics, and clubs.
Beautifully located in New Campus, living in Green & Gold Village allows its residents the ability to get anywhere on campus in under 10 minutes. Not only is the student Rec Center directly across from where you will be residing, the Commons “Caf”, voted beast dining hall on campus, is right down the street.
Here at Green & Gold Village you will have the opportunity to forge your own freshmen experience with Residence Life “Self-Determination” policies. Unbeknownst to you, we are currently counting down the seconds until you arrive. We are extremely excited to join you on this adventure and hope that together we will create history!
The RAs (and I guess the HD, too.)
