The Commonwealth of Virginia's DMBE (Department of Minority Business Enterprise) currently has certified 19,120 SWaM businesses.
A woman-owned business enterprise is a business concern in which at least 51percent of the business is owned by one or more women who are U.S. citizens or legal resident aliens. A minority-owned business enterprise is a business concern in which at least 51 percent of the business is owned by one or more minorities. For the purpose of the SWaM Program, all certified minority-owned and woman-owned businesses are also small business enterprises.
