Subject: Action needed by 9/27: Former Alltel Wireless Services & Voicemail to Transition

Good morning/afternoon,
Most wireless services offered under the old Alltel contract are transitioning automatically to the new Verizon Wireless contract. One of the last steps in this process will occur September 27, when Verizon Wireless plans to decommission its old Alltel equipment (Alltel handsets should continue to work). Services should transition seamlessly without requiring action by subscribers, with the exception of voicemail.
Beginning August 28, Alltel subscribers will have up to 30 days to transition to the Verizon Wireless voicemail platform. Subscribers need to access their current Alltel mailboxes by September 27 to retrieve stored messages before setting up their new accounts. After the new service is set up, subscribers will not be able to access the old voicemail platform. If messages are required for archiving purposes, Verizon Wireless has an arrangement with CBW Productions for more permanent storage options (www.cbwproductions.com or (800) 770-8046 ~ enter ALLTEL when checking out for a 10 percent discount).
Once subscribers are ready to start the new service, they dial *86 and the system will guide them through the setup process, including recording new greetings. If no action is taken by September 27, the phone line will be transitioned automatically to the Verizon Wireless platform, and the subscriber will be required to set up the new mailbox prior to retrieving new messages. Any old messages will be deleted and cannot be retrieved.
