Because of the complexity and risk involved with international travel, international alternative breaks require participants' careful attention to detail,
All participants in Branch Out International Alternative Breaks must:
- Read the Branch Out International Health & Safety Guidelines (.pdf)
- Submit the Participant Emergency Information form within 48 hours of acceptance on a trip.
- Secure international travel, health and evacuation insurance through Cultural Insurance Services International for each month of coverage. Insurance coverage costs $40 (including cost of a Branch Out t-shirt; insurance costs $35 for participants who don't wish to purchase a shirt). Participants and site leaders should submit insurance payments to the Cashier's Office in Blow Hall. Please fill out this form to turn in with payment.
- Resources and information on insurance: Brochure from Cultural Insurance Services International (travel health insurance) (.pdf); Brochure for CISI Comprehensive Security Evacuation Coverage (.pdf)
Team leaders travel with an emergency protocol manual and are trained in basic emergency response. William and Mary police answer all emergency calls from teams while traveling and follow Student Affairs emergency procedures.
