The Office of Community Engagement connects the College and community to support students’ development as active and educated citizens and to promote positive, community-driven social change. Our vision is that students will prioritize working within and understanding community in a lifelong pursuit of social justice.
How to Get Involved
We offer several ways for students to connect to community. First, sign up for our [[efmiller, volunteer listserv]] for up-to-date opportunities. Then explore - get involved in tutoring and mentoring through our Educational Programs, large-scale service, anti-poverty and ongoing local service through Local Community Engagement Programs, and immersive service in communities locally and around the world through Branch Out alternative breaks.
We can also help you to work directly with people to set up your own community engagement opportunities. Visit our Local Agency Directory to learn about organizations in the Williamsburg area, and find out how to complete required community service hours.
If you work with a nonprofit or public organization, or are a faculty member at William & Mary and would like to develop projects with us, we'd love to join you in that.
Whether you are a student, faculty member, staff member or community member, we are glad to partner with you.
