Student Programs

At the Institute for the Theory & Practice of International Relations (ITPIR), we train our brightest students to work alongside faculty to produce innovative, policy-relevant social science research. Each year, over 100 W&M students are affiliated with one or more of ITPIR’s projects.

We take pride in training not only the next generation of scholars but also policy practitioners and leaders. Our student programs are designed to enhance the ITPIR student research experience by giving students more opportunities and resources to formulate and implement their own research project ideas, travel and work abroad, and explore career opportunities in the field of international relations in Washington, D.C.
