Almost any workflow involves computing results, and that's what Mathematica does—from building a hedge fund trading website or publishing interactive engineering textbooks to developing embedded image recognition algorithms or teaching calculus.

Mathematica is renowned as the world's ultimate application for computations. But it's much more—it's the only development platform fully integrating computation into complete workflows, moving you seamlessly from initial ideas all the way to deployed individual or enterprise solutions.

Faculty & Staff

Mathematica can be installed on faculty-owned computers and college-owned computers.  You can request multiple licenses for W&M computers.  You must request one activation key for each computer Mathematica will be installed on. You cannot share activation keys, as they are tied to your account and each specific request.

To install, you must first read and agree to the Wolfram Mathematica License Agreement.

Then use this link to generate an activation key.  You must create a Wolfram ID using your @wm.edu email account to generate a code (physics.wm.edu or math.wm.edu, etc. will not work.)  You will be given a choice between Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems.  Product download instructions will be sent to you by email along with your activation key.

Students

Mathematica can be installed on a W&M student's personal machine.  You can request only one Mathematica license to install.

To install, you must first read and agree to the Wolfram Mathematica License Agreement.

Then use this link to generate a request for an activation key.  You must create a Wolfram ID using your @email.wm.edu email account.  Your request will be have to be approved from the site administrator.   As part of the request, you will be given a choice between Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems.  A request will take up to one business day to process.  Product download instructions will be sent to you by email along with your activation key.

*Note: Using a version of Mathematica 8.0.4 obtained prior to August 2012, you may encounter an "unidentified developer" error
