Phone Services for Students
Service Request
Students may request to have a landline phone in their dorm room. Learn how to request a landline phone.
Resident Assistants are provided a VoIP phone in their dorm rooms and duty offices.
Dialing Instructions
To dial long distance or international numbers students must have an authorization code (see below).

Long distance calls within the 50 states are $.07 per minute plus a Federal Universal Service Fee of 13%. For calls to US territories, consult the international rate listing.
International rates are subject to change without notice.
Authorization Codes
Personal long distance dialing from a campus phone requires a long distance authorization code. Any student may request an authorization code for long distance dialing. To request and/or view your code, go to http://www.wm.edu/it/bill and login using your WMUserid and password.
Voice Mail
Voice Mail can be ordered for landline phones. Access Voice Mail by dialing 757-221-1000 (or 1-1000 from your campus phone) and entering your extension number (1-XXXX) and password. RAs with ShoreTel VoIP phones will have additional options for accessing Voice Mail.

You are responsible for your phone line and charges to your authorization code. Learn more about phone policies.
Statement & Itemized Charges
You can view your phone account statement (as well as your printing statement) with an itemized list of charges.
- Go to the IT Services site at https://itservices.wm.edu/selfservice.
- Login with your WMuserid and Password.
- Click on My Account on the left-hand side of the page
On the My Account screen, you will see charges from your previous statement as well as charges since the latest statement. To view an itemized report of charges, click on the "View Details" button.
Note: The statement does not include the payments made to your account. Only the Bursar's Office can tell you payment information.
