So, what is WMApps?

WMApps is the email service for students and alumni.  Along with Email you will also have access to the following Apps:  Docs, Sites and Calendar.

Who gets WMApps email?

All current students,alumni (graduated beginning Spring 2007), and student organizations will use WMApps email.  Faculty and Staff email addresses will continue to use the @wm.edu extension.

Will my WMApps email account have ads since it is Gmail?

No.  WMApps powered by Google will not have ads.

Do William & Mary Acceptable Use Policies apply to WMApps?

Yes.  All policies regarding appropriate use of email accounts and on campus computer resources apply to these Google services.  In addition, Google maintains strict privacy polices and will require you to accept its privacy policy the first time you log in to WMApps powered by Google.

Can I get a WMApps email account if I am a faculty/staff member?

Yes.  If you are a current faculty/staff member, you can request a WMApps email account by sending a request to [[support]].

What do I have to do to get WMApps email?

Follow the Getting Started instructions.

Can I forward my email to another account?

Yes, you can still forward your email to another account.  However, all official communication from W&M will be sent to your WMApps email account. 

To forward email from WMApps to another account:

  1. Log in to wmapps through: http://my.wm.edu/
  2. Select the settings gear button in the top right corner.
  3. You will be prompted with a dropdown menu.
  4. Select Settings in the menu.
  5. Select Forwarding and POP/IMAP from the horizontal bar of choices at the top of the screen.
  6. Select Add Forwarding Address under the Forwarding heading.
  7. Enter the desired forwarding address.
Can I use Outlook or another email client with my WMApps Email Account?

Yes.  However, Information Technology recommends checking your Email using the Web at www.email.wm.edu.  For students who prefer to use an email client, we have provided settings with a link to setup instructions  provided by Google.

Troubleshooting
After logging into changepassword.wm.edu/wmapps and setting my password,  why would I receive an error stating "You must verify your WMuserid before you can set your password"?

This is most likely due to a compatibility issue with Internet Explorer, Safari or Google Chrome.  We recommend using Mozilla Firefox.  If you do not have Mozilla Firefox installed, you can download it free.

Why am I unable to log into my WMApps Email account at www.email.wm.edu?

It is possible that Google is experiencing technical difficulties.  Google posts any issue with their Google Apps on the Apps Status Dashboard.
