How the ID Card Works
The W&M Student ID Card
The W&M student ID card is the College's official form of identification. It is also the campus meal card, library card, and access to residence halls, recreational facilities, the Student Health Center, and some academic buildings. Student ID cards are not transferable and are intended for the sole use of the student.
Because this card provides access to buildings, meal plans, and financial accounts, lost cards should be reported immediately. This notification can be made to the ID Office, 221-2105 during normal business hours, and to Campus Police 221-4596 at any other time. These offices can issue a temporary card at no charge so that students will have time to search for misplaced ID cards. If you cannot locate your card and need a permanent replacement the cost is $20.00. Stolen ID Cards are $5.00 with a copy of the police report.
The W&M Express Account
The W&M Express account is a debit account associated with your William and Mary ID. This account provides a secure method of handling transactions both on and off campus without the concerns of carrying cash or change. When a deposit is made to the account, students can then draw upon those funds simply by presenting or swiping their ID card at locations on and off campus. The account balance is always shown on the receipt or at the reader except in the vending machines.
