Institutional Analysis & Effectiveness

The Office of Institutional Analysis & Effectiveness (IAE), a Division of the Office of the Provost, promotes rigorous self-regulation and continuous improvement within the College and the academy. The Office supports, coordinates, and advances empirically-based efforts to demonstrate that the College is fulfilling its academic mission and enhancing the quality of a William and Mary education within a community of scholars.

IAE is a trusted provider of accurate, timely, and unbiased research-based information regarding the College of William and Mary and its role in higher education. IAE serves as a catalyst and coalition builder in support of the College's mission by developing and disseminating knowledge relevant to the effective operations of the College.

PIE: Process of Institutional Effectiveness

The College of William and Mary has adopted a framework to document processes of institutional effectiveness on campus. The framework, referred to as PIE, was developed in response to new SACS guidelines for accreditation. Academic and administrative PIEs specify how the College engages in ongoing planning and evaluation. Although the Process of Institutional Effectiveness is an endeavor that impacts all departments throughout the College, it is an integral component of the Office of Institutional Analysis & Effectiveness. The process and the SACS guidelines are outlined on the College's SACS web site: http://www.wm.edu/sacs/pie.php
