In January 2013, College Orientation was extended to a full day, allowing for two tours, more interaction among newly hired employees, and a richer introduction to the College. Our day starts in the Training Room at Bell Hall (109 Cary Street) with a continental breakfast and some introductory activities. Two tours are part of every orientation day: the Wren Building, part of our historic campus and the highlight of any campus tour; and, the Swem Library, a location full of resources, art pieces, media capabilities, studios and meeting rooms. Between the tours, we have lunch provided at the Commons Dining Hall. When there are exhibits to be viewed, an additional tour to the Muscarelle Museum is added to the day.
During the day, you’ll hear from a variety of speakers who will inform you of the many benefits, resources and opportunities available to you as a William & Mary employee. You’ll learn the rich history of the College of William & Mary and be given an overview of our future – i.e., the students who are currently studying on our campus.
Enrollment in the Partnership Program extends your orientation over the next three months. Information and help with the enrollment process will be provided during the orientation.
Please wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather as we will be outside at various points during the day. A van will take us to lunch, but we will walk to the other points of interest on campus.
