Information Technology

A professional development model

Funding for Information Technology’s professional development is available every year for each leg of the organization. Imminent changes in technology, current and near-term projects, and supervisor evaluation of training needs typically drive the decisions on what professional development opportunities will be made available and who will participate. The amount of funding varies from year to year depending on overall budget reductions and other purchases needed to support the organization.

The types of training made available vary widely from 2-hour classes to week-long conferences.  Information Technology takes advantage of on-line opportunities and occasionally brings someone to campus to train a larger group.  The approach to plan for some training and provide some on an ad-hoc basis works for IT because of how quickly things change in IT.
