University HR System

W&M and You: A university-employee partnership

Eligible College of William and Mary employees will have the option of converting to University Operational staff status during an open enrollment period from March 1, 2013 to April 15, 2013.   Eligible employees will be notified by Human Resources that they qualify for this option. Whether you elect to stay in the state system or enroll in the University HR system, you must indicate your choice. When you have decided, you can access the on-line decision form by clicking here (no longer avaiable after 04/15/13) or if you want to download a hard copy click here (No longer available after 04/15/13).

Employees wanting more information have several options:


In Person

  • Employees can meet with an HR professional for a one-on-one session to answer specific questions about how the switch would affect them.  Contact Judy Schatzel at (757) 221-3769 or via email at jgschatzel@wm.edu to make an appointment.
  • Information sessions, listed below, are available for those employees who are interested in learning more about their options.

Important Note:  Once you choose to participate in the University system, your choice cannot be changed at a later time.

Professionals and Professional Faculty, hourly employees, and operating employees hired on or after July 1, 2006 are already participants in the University system and do not need to take any action. 

Instructional and research faculty continue to be governed by the policies and procedures contained in the Faculty Handbook
