Reporting Information for the Two-Hour Delay
On November 13, 2009, the College was open but granted employees a two-hour delay due to the weather conditions. The following information provides instructions on how to record hours for non-exempt employees.
All non-exempt classified/operational employees should submit Administrative Leave Taken for the total number of work hours during the delay and must reduce their regular hours. For example: A non-exempt classified/operational employee who is scheduled to report to work at 8:00 am would submit two (2) hours of Administrative Leave Taken and six (6) hours of regular pay.
Non-exempt classified/operational employees who are required to report to work at the normal time may receive two-hours of either compensatory leave or straight-time pay for the hours worked with the approval of their dean, director or department head. Hours worked should be recorded either as "additional hours worked (leave)" for compensatory leave or "additional hours worked (pay)" for straight-time pay. All hours worked during the workweek, including hours worked during the two-hour delay, will be counted for purposes of determining if overtime pay is warranted for non-exempt employees.
Please contact Estelle Washington at 221-3163, ebwash@wm.edu, if you have questions. Please share this information with any employee who does not have access to E-mail.
