Student Insurance Optional Major Medical

The Student Health Insurance Plan provides a Maximum Lifetime Benefit of up to $100,000 (for each injury or sickness) for basic medical expenses.  For those students who have a higher medical need or who wish to purchase a higher level of protection from financial loss due to possible medical expenses, there is $150,000 Optional Major Medical Benefit available (for a total of $250,000 for each injury or sickness), subject to payment of an additional premium. View Premium Rates for the specific premium rate for this optional benefit. The optional benefit may only be purchased at the time of initial enrollment in the Plan and may not be added later. The Major Medical Benefit begins payment after the Basic Maximum Benefit has been paid by UnitedHealthcare StudentResources. The company will pay 100% for additional covered medical expenses up to the selected Major Medical Maximum. See the plan brochure on the W&M's UHCSR page for specifics about this optional benefit.
