Student Insurance Voluntary Dental Insurance
In addition to the health insurance coverage offered, beginning in 2009, the College negotiated for an optional fully-insured dental PPO benefit plan provided by United HealthCare Insurance Company. The optional Dental PPO Plan is intended for students who have higher dental needs or who want a higher level of coverage than is offered for dental care by the included UnitedHealth Allies discount card program. The optional Dental PPO Plan provides 100% coverage for preventive & diagnostic services and 80% coverage for basic services and 50% coverage for major services (for Preferred Providers, reduced benefits for non-network providers). There is a $50 annual plan deductible for basic and major services (annual plan deductible does not apply to preventive & diagnostic services). The annual maximum is $750 per person per plan year.
Students are not required to purchase the optional Dental PPO Plan because it is offered on a voluntary basis to W&M students. Students may choose to enroll in the voluntary dental PPO plan even if you do not enroll in the College-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan. Students and their dependents may enroll in the Dental PPO Plan either semi-annually or annually and must do so directly with UnitedHealthcare StudentResources either by enrolling online or by sending the mail-in Dental Enrollment Form and premium payment directly to the insurance company. The '13-'14 annual student premium is $554.04.
