Greek Leadership Institute
The Greek Leadership Institute is held each February for leaders, officers, and members of the fraternity/sorority community.
ARC Carnival
Every spring, more than 200 William and Mary Greek men and women come out to participate in the Annual ARC Carnival. Students are paired with buddies from the ARC of Greater Williamsburg for a fun-filled day with food, music, games, and even a moonbounce! It is a wonderful opportunity to interact with members of the community and to learn from each other while having fun.
Whistlestop
WHAT IS WHISTLESTOP?
WhistleStop is a safety awareness program designed to fight sexual assault and crime on campus. It is a way for students, faculty, and staff to actively work together to improve the safety of our College community.
HOW DOES WHISTLESTOP WORK?
If you hear a whistle, immediately locate the trouble and respond in the best way possible; call Campus Police at 911 and blow your own whistle to attract more help and startle the attacker. Whistles should be used ONLY IN AN EMERGENCY! (Using your whistle in a non-emergency situation may result in judicial action for falsely summoning police.) To protect yourself, always carry a whistle on your key chain and be ready to use it. Blow it loud, long, and repeatedly when you are in danger.
WHY A WHISTLE?
A whistle is a safe, non-violent material item that a person can carry with them at all times. Carry it on your key ring so that whistles are ready to use as you approach cars, residence halls, etc. The whistle is not a "cure-all," but it is a positive action we can take to be more aware of our own personal safety.
For more information on WhistleStop, contact the Inter-Sorority Council (I.S.C) at 221.3296 WhistleStop is sponsored by the Inter-Sorority Council.
Meet the Greeks
Meet the Greeks is an event held every fall, typically on Yates Field that allows for potential new members to come out and meet members of fraternities and sororities and to learn more about the Greek community. This year Meet the Greeks will take place on Monday, August 25th. We look forward to seeing you there!
CFA Freshmen Move In
Every year CFA and the members of the fraternity community help freshmen move into their residence halls on freshmen move in day. This serves as a way for the fraternity community to give back to the college community and to welcome incoming freshmen to campus.
Junior ISC
Jr. ISC is a five-week program to introduce the sorority community's newest members to ISC. Each sorority's new member class has two representatives, and they meet each week to discuss Panhellenic life and plan an event for the sorority community. They also learn what the executive board does, and they have the opportunity to meet each member on the board and hear about their experiences. Jr. ISC is an opportunity to increase Panhellenic connections, and to see if further leadership in the sorority community is something that the new members want to pursue.
Activities and benefits include:
- Panel discussions with Greek leaders about ways to get involved and how their involvement has impacted their college experience
- Presentations by the ISC Executive Board about ISC resources and leadership opportunities
- Opportunities to both present information and learn about the sororities at William & Mary
- Participation in a community service event with the ARC of Greater Williamsburg, the Greek-wide philanthropy
- Opportunities to meet and develop friendships with other sorority women on campus
Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute
UIFI is a five day long leadership opportunity that brings together members of countless Greek organizations from around the country. This is a program of the North American Interfraternity Conference, based out of Indianapolis, Indiana. There are many UIFI sessions offered throughout the summer months, most are held in Bloomington, Indiana on the campus of Indiana University. Several of the Inter/National fraternities and sororities at the College offer scholarships to their undergraduate members to attend this outstanding leadership development institute.
First Year CFA
The First Year CFA is a group of new fraternity members that meets during their pledging semester to learn about the Four Pillars of Greek Life (Scholarship, Leadership, Fellowship, and Service) as well as fraternal values. The group will also learn about leadership and involvement opportunities within the fraternity community at the College of William and Mary. Participants are nominated by their New Member Educators and approved by the CFA Executive Council, each chapter is expected to have one representative. Meetings last for one hour a week over a four-five week period. By the end of the semester the group will plan and host one interfraternal event.
CFA Spring Clean Contest
Recognizing the importance of creating a "home away from home" within the Fraternity Housing options at the College of William & Mary, the Executive Council of the CFA has established a Spring Clean Contest among the housed fraternity chapters. In the spring, chapters choosing to compete in the contest will have their homes walked through by the judging panel and evaluated in the catagories of: Cleanliness, Hominess, Improvements, and Landscaping.
