All new students who have accepted an offer of admission and made a tuition deposit will be enrolled into an online mini-course known as College Studies. College Studies is a course for students who enter W&M with the social class of 2019 or later and will graduate by completing the College (COLL) Curriculum.
Completing this online mini course is an important step in the academic advising process. The course content provides you with information that is essential for planning your schedule and preparing for registration. Students enrolled in College Studies must finish both parts of the course to be able to register for Spring 2018 classes.
These online courses are delivered through Blackboard, a system designed to enhance education. The contents introduce you to the curriculum, to academic policies and procedures, to campus technology, language placement and skills assessment, math placement, and to other resources that will help you succeed at W&M. You should plan to complete the course prior to orientation so that you are prepared to register for your classes during orientation.
It should take about 5 to 7 hours for you to complete the entire course; your work can be saved so you can choose to complete the contents all at one time or in various increments. Your peer advisor will send you an email when the course is available. That advisor will be available to assist you in completing the activities.
