About Joanna

Joanna X. Hernandez (bee-yon-say), born December 7, 1993 is a Latina singer, actress, and OAD. Born and raised in a sassy pack of wild Queen Quees, she performed in various singing and dancing competitions as a child, and rose to fame in the late 1990s as lead singer of R&B girl-group GGV Is My Destiny (GGV for short). Managed by her father, Taylor Reveley, the group became one of the world’s best selling of all time, but was oddly popular in a small Virginia town called Williamsburg. The group’s hiatus saw the release of JXH's debut album, Dangerously in Love With the Tribe (2014), which established her as a solo artist worldwide, even though she had some help from Charlie. Soon she forgot about her group, moving on to bigger and better things.

Following the disbandment of GGV in 2014, she signed on to record her second second album, Where Will Lauren & Zara Place Me This Time?(2015), which contained hits “Deja Vu", and, “Irreplaceable". JXH also ventured into acting, with a Golden Globe nominated performance in HOPE (Wednesday Nights), starring roles in Body Pump and Zumba at the Rec (Mondays and Tuesday), and Having the Biggest Smile on Campus (Always). Her marriage to rapper, Big Zara, got heated after TMZ announced that Big Z had signed on to not come back to Williamsburg next fall.

A self-described "modern-day feminist”, her songs are often characterized by themes of green, gold, Orientation, as well as female sexuality and empowerment. On stage, her dynamic, highly choreographed performances enduce slight fear but immediate respect in freshmen. Her career as an singer, performer, OAD has been unmatched and she is beyond ready for wherever her Fall Tour of 2015 takes her.

The 7’s Society listed her as one of the most influential people on campus, the Alpha’s deliver a bouquet of Roses to her door every morning, and the Bishop James Madison Society has announced her status as Eternal Queen Bee. She has been nominated for People Magazine’s 100 Most Sexy Man Alive, even more impressive considering she is, in fact, a woman.

Through all her accomplishments, JXH is most excited about Fall Orientation 2015. Who run the world? TRIBE.
