Hampton Roads Bioscience Cluster

The biomedical area is of fundamental importance to William and Mary and couples to Hampton Roads' growing capabilities in modeling and simulation in many ways, including links to the diagnostic capabilities of Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS), and the development of capabilities for bioterrorism alerts. Biomedicine is a critical component of modeling and simulation and a direct application of modeling and simulation technology. William & Mary's plans include proposed work in new molecular imaging and related non-invasive imaging methods, and advanced signal processing. Given our current expertise, the broad spectrum of laboratory resources at the ARC facility, and the unique photon source at the adjacent Thomas Jefferson National Laboratory, William and Mary is uniquely positioned to develop these advanced technologies.
