How to Conduct a Search

Departments within The College of Willam and Mary may initiate searches to fill faculty and executive positions by contacting the Office of Diversity & Inclusion or by logging into the College's online recruitment system.

To review the Search and Selection Manual for conducting a search, click here. For additional assistance, please go to Instructions for William and Mary's on-line recruiting system (PDF).

Print ad in a national professional journal: Per Department of Labor regulations, if you are conducting a search for a tenure eligible teaching faculty position and from that search a foreign national is hired for whom the College intends to sponsor permanent residency, you can only do so if a print ad in a national professional journal was placed and run during the course of the search (i.e. before the candidate is selected). A print ad in a publication such as the Chronicle of Higher Education print edition would meet this requirement. Please direct any questions on this requirement or immigration matters in general to Stephen Sechrist, Director of International Students, Scholars, and Programs sjsech@wm.edu.
