Orientation Awards
Each year many students, faculty, staff, departments, and businesses assist the Dean of Students Office to orchestrate and facilitate an outstanding New Student Orientation Program. In an effort to recognize those individuals and partners who go beyond the standard level of excellence, several awards have been created.
Reyno Award for Outstanding Achievement
This award will go to the OA who possesses an infectious level of enthusiasm that serves as an inspiration to others. He/she takes initiative as a leader, shows a sincere concern for student welfare, and embodies the orientation ideals. This award has been named in lasting tribute to Alex Reyno, a William and Mary student who served as an orientation staff member for three years. He was an amazing example of these outstanding qualities. OAs can be nominated for this award by RAs, co-OAs, OADs, new students, and anyone else who observes OAs in action.
Outstanding Partnership Award
This award goes to a pair or trio of OAs who possess an infectious level of enthusiasm, which serves as an inspiration to others. They take initiative as leaders, show a sincere concern for student welfare, and embody the orientation ideals. This pair or trio also works together effectively and cohesively. OAs can be nominated for this award by RAs, co-OAs, OADs, new students, and anyone else who observes OAs in action.
Community Award
This award goes to a member of the William and Mary community who consistently assists the Dean of Students Office and the orientation staff with achieving the ideals and guiding principles of the New Student Orientation Program. This support could be in the form of collaboration or fiscal contributions. Orientation staff members are not eligible to receive this award.
