About
Prevention and Education Services
The OHE staff provides a wide-range of educational, referral and outreach services for students who are concerned about wellness, disease prevention, and other health-related issues. Additionally, the OHE coordinates or participates in many initiatives including the CARES Team (Collegiate Awareness Regarding Eating Smart), the Alcohol and Substance Abuse Task Force, and AlcoholEdu.
One-on-One Consultations
The Office of Health Education offers one-on-one consultations, a free service for all full-time students. If you're concerned about any health issue or about how to help a friend, contact OHE staff by [[sthlth, email]] or by calling (757) 221-3631.
Awareness Events
The OHE collaborates with many departments and student organizations on campus to present several awareness events during the school year. In the past these events have included Alcohol Awareness Week, Great American Smoke-Out, December De-Stress Fest, Sexual Responsibility Week, Tribe Tropics, Love Your Body Week, Sleep Awareness Week, National Alcohol Screening Day, and Sexual Assault Awareness Week.
Assessment & Evaluation
We regularly evaluate our programs by surveying the William & Mary student body.
In February, 2008 William & Mary students participated in the National College Health Assessment. This random-sample survey was completed by 1400 students - a return rate of 46%. The data provided by this survey guides the activities of the OHE. Want to learn more about the results? Contact us by [[sthlth, email]] or by calling (757) 221-2195.
