Temporary Disabilities

The College recognizes that temporary disabilities can result from some surgeries and accidents making full academic participation more of a challenge. To the degree possible, Disability Services works with individual students to devise solutions for meeting their academic demands. Timely student contact is essential and, in many cases, planning can be done in advance of planned surgeries.

Though certainly not exhaustive, the following accommodations have proven helpful to students struggling with temporary disabilities:

  • Peer notetakers
  • Scribe services
  • Temporary handicapped parking
  • Reasonable extensions of time to complete tests, quizzes, or other class assignments
  • Use of a computer to complete tests or quizzes
