About Wilmarie

As a key member of the Student Success thematic area's leadership team, Dr. Rodríguez provides strategic leadership and oversight of the Office of Academic Wellbeing, Parent & Family Programs, and the Center for Student Diversity. She is integral in coordinating resources, building partnerships, managing finances, generating reports and assessment, and advancing other related initiatives that support the thematic area, the division, and the broader university. 

Dr. Rodríguez began her work at William & Mary in 2014 as an academic advisor. Her other positions at the university have included assistant dean of students, associate dean of students & director of academic enrichment programs, and senior associate dean of students. Dr. Rodríguez also served as Associate Dean of Student Affairs at Bowdoin College.

With over a decade of experience in several functional areas in higher education, Dr. Rodríguez brings strong leadership to her role. She has vast experience in the areas of academic support and intervention, relationship building and collaboration, student success and retention initiatives, student services integration, and leadership and supervision. Dr. Rodríguez's career has focused on creating environments that support students’ development and growth. Her goal is for our students to become well-rounded individuals as they prepare for life after William & Mary and establish their place in the world. Dr. Rodríguez attributes her ability to persist to meaningful engagement and mentorship from higher education professionals. The opportunity to learn from those professionals has shaped her into the professional and leader she is today. 

Dr. Rodríguez holds a doctorate in educational policy, planning, and leadership, specializing in higher education administration from William & Mary. Her research focuses on the retention of student affairs professionals and the implementation of program changes to support retention efforts. In addition, she holds an Ed.S. and an M.Ed. in Adult Education. Dr. Rodríguez is also a veteran of the U.S. Army. When she is not at work, Dr. Rodríguez enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and watching football.
