DC Winter Seminars
The DC Winter Seminars enables outstanding W&M faculty to spend 10 days living, teaching, visiting and meeting with topical experts in Washington, DC. It offers you the chance to teach a curriculum built around a topic that you propose, to students you help select. Interested students apply to the DC Winter Seminars through a competitive application and brief interview process so you, along with W&M Washington Center site, choose only the most highly qualified students. Those selected gain tremendous insight into the field of study through your classes and the related site visits and speakers.
The DC Winter Seminars give you the added benefit of having W&M administrators available as a resource throughout the experience. The staff of the W&M Washington Center works closely with you to:
- Find speakers for classes
- Make contacts with organizations/institutions with which you wish to work
- Reconnect with former students and other local alums
How it Works
The DC Winter Seminars professors design and teach one 3 credit course that uses DC's unique educational opportunities and align with the topic. Classes typically meet from 9:00am-5:00pm from January 2nd through January 12th (approximately 10 days, with Sunday off).
