DC Spring Break Seminars
The DC Spring Break Seminars enable outstanding W&M faculty to spend their Spring Break (Saturday-Saturday) living, teaching, visiting and meeting with topical experts in Washington, DC. They offer you the chance to teach a curriculum built around a topic that you propose, to students you help select. Interested students apply to the DC Spring Break Seminars through a competitive application process so you, along with W&M Washington Center staff, choose only the most highly qualified students. Those selected gain tremendous insight into the field of study through your classes and the related site visits and speakers.
The DC Spring Break Seminars give you the added benefit of having W&M administrators available as a resource throughout the experience. The staff of the W&M Washington Center works closely with you to:
- Find speakers for classes
- Make contacts with organizations/institutions with which you wish to work
- Reconnect with former students and other local alums
How it Works
The DC Spring Break Seminars professors design and teach one 3 credit course that uses DC's unique educational opportunities and align with the topic. Classes typically meet from 9:00am-5:00pm from Saturday through Saturday of Spring Break. (Shorter days on both Saturdays for opening and closing are likely.)
