Services
The Counseling Center provides a wide variety of services to the William & Mary community. Its primary purpose is to provide support to students in emotional and psychological distress. The center accomplishes this with a combination of individual counseling, outreach programs and support groups. The staff of the center is personally invested not only in these specific expressions of the center, but in the maintenance and development of emotional and mental health in the student body at large.
Although its first duty is to the students, the arms of the Counseling Center also extend to the friends, faculty and family members of those students. The center recognizes that a vital part of promoting emotional and mental health on campus is to seek the involvement and cooperation of those closest to the students. In addition to providing services to those in relationship with students, the center also provides an internship program for future counselors and doctoral students. It is also a valuable resource for discovering what the wider community of Williamsburg has to offer in emotional and mental health services.
