Cohen Career Ambassadors are highly-trained* student staff who can provide guidance on aspects of career readiness including how to communicate one's professional identity via resumes, cover letters, and LinkedIn as well as how to find externships, internships, and jobs. There are currently six ambassadors who you will see during the career center's Quick Advising hours Monday-Thursday from 2-4 PM or around campus sharing advice and resources. They can answer questions such as:
- How can I improve my resume or cover letter?
- Where can I find an internship?
- What is networking and how do I do it?
- How do I set up my TribeCareers profile?
*Each ambassador completes an initial 16 hours of training before they can work with students and they receive ongoing professional development throughout the year as well as 9 hours of review each summer.
Sarah Bottari -- Ambassador since Fall 2016
Hi! I am a sophomore at the College originally from Acton, Massachusetts. I am studying Neuroscience with the hopes of having a career in the health sciences, either doing research or clinical work. On campus, I am a member of the Cheerleading Squad, a dancer in Pointe Blank, and a member of a research lab in the Psychology department. I had the amazing opportunity to intern at the University of Massachusetts Medical School this past summer doing medical research with the model organism C. elegans. This is my first year working in the Career Center, and I am excited to help students with resumes, cover letters, interviewing skills, and the internship search. In my free time, I can be found petting dogs around campus, watching Netflix, and enjoying a caramel apple cider in Swemromas.
Peter Brooks -- Ambassador since Fall 2016
My name is Peter Brooks, and I am a sophomore at the College, originally from New Hampshire. I'm intending on majoring in Economics, but I've also been taking classes in History and French. I've interned with a biotech company in China and with a health-focused startup in Boston. I'm interested in joining a consulting firm after graduating. On campus, I'm involved in AEPi and sail with Tribe Sailing, acting as the team's Fundraising Chair. In my free time I like to be on the water, practice my language skills, and cook.
Thomeka Watkins -- Ambassador since Fall 2016
Hello! I am a sophomore and aspiring economics major at the College of William and Mary. I have leadership roles in both Campus Kitchens and Food Recovery Network and enjoy volunteering to help alleviate poverty and food insecurity. Currently, I am interested in conducting research on how participation in community gardens can effect the food attitudes of children and their families. I am passionate about career readiness and look forward to helping students utilize the resources in the Cohen Career Center to take an active role in developing and shaping their ideal career paths.
