Upper Body Clothing

Primary Insulating Layer No 1 Mid-weight long sleeved
shirt or pullover.
Secondary Insulating Layer No 1 Heavy weight pullover or jacket.
T-shirt No 1-2 Synthetic shirts to be worn when
hiking.
Rain Jacket No 1 Waterproof, breathable jacket for
protection from wind & rain.
Sports Bras No 1-2
Hat No 1 Baseball cap, visor, sun hat, etc.
Something with a brim.

 


Lower Body Clothing

Nylon Shorts No 1-2 Loose fitting athletic or river shorts
work well. Avoid cotton if possible.
Underwear No 2-3
Primary Insulating Layer No 1 Mid-weight long underwear or
equivalent.
Wind Pants No 1 Nylon pants that are loose enough to
fit over all other lower body layers.
Hiking Boots No 1 Sturdy hiking boots in good condition.
Hiking Socks No 2-3 Cushioned synthetic or wook hiking
socks that fit comfortable with your
boots.

Backpack Yes 1 Minimum of 3,500 cubic inches,
internal or external frame with hipbelt
Sleeping Bag Yes 1 Rated at least 30 degrees F.
Synthetic is preferrable, down is
acceptable.
Sleeping Pad Yes 1 Foam or inflatable sleeping pad for
comfort and insulation.

 


Miscellaneous Items

Insulated Mug No 1 12-20 oz. mugs with a lid are nice.
Bowl No 1 Plastic with a snap or screw-top lid
are handy.
Spoon No 1 Lexan spoons are light and durable.
Water Bottles No 2-3 You should be able to carry at least
2 qts. of water in your bottles.
Lip Balm No 1 One with an SPF is a good idea.
Sunscreen No 1 A 4-8 oz. tube of SPF 15 or greater is
recommended.
Personal Toiletries No 1 Toothbrush, toothpaste, saline
solution, spare glasses or contacts,
feminine hygiene products, etc.
Headlamp
or
Flashlight
No 1 A small, personal light with spare
batteries and bulb.
