    22nd Annual Supreme Court Preview

The cable news network C-SPAN is broadcasting the Law School’s 22nd annual Supreme Court Preview live tonight beginning at 6 p.m. Check your local cable provider for your C-Span channel.

C-SPAN will air the Preview’s kick off – event, Moot Court case Graham v. Florida and two panel discussions. Graham v. Florida considers whether the imposition of a life sentence on a thirteen-year-old for a non-homicide violates the prohibition on cruel and unusual punishment. Advocates at the Moot will include John Blume of Cornell Law School (Director of the Cornell Death Penalty Project) and Kevin C. Newsom of Bradley Arant (a former Solicitor General in Alabama), both seasoned Supreme Court advocates. The panel discussions, “Sotomayor and the Supreme Court” and “The Court in 2020,” will follow at 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. respectively.

The Institute of Bill of Rights Law at the William & Mary Law School marks the commencement of the new term of the United States Supreme Court each fall with its Supreme Court Preview Conference. The Preview brings together notable legal practitioners, scholars and journalists to discuss and analyze the Court's upcoming term. This year, the conference will include Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, Supreme Court Justice (Ret) and Chancellor of the College of William & Mary.
